Susanne ChadbourneWhat are you most looking forward to in your role?

Meeting with students, being part of the vibrant community at ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ÊÓƵ and working with likeminded people.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A children’s author and illustrator – I had visions of living like Beatrix Potter in the countryside with lots of animals for company. It still sounds rather lovely!

Has there been a pivotal moment in your life?

Taking a break from my career as a public relations consultant to do a master’s in History of Art. It led me to move to Australia, undertake a PhD and now my role at ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ÊÓƵ College!

What’s your favourite movie?

Don’t Look Now. The way the beauty of Venice is shown is breathtaking (despite it being a horror movie).

What’s an interesting story from your life or travels you’d like to share?

I travelled to Peru and Bolivia when I was 19 and lived in a small village teaching English at the local school. It was a humbling experience to be part of a small community very far from my usual life in London, and I had to learn quickly how to communicate with very limited Spanish.

What do you wish you could go back and tell your 18-year-old self?

To listen to my gut and relax – as it will all work out ok!

What would make the world a better place?

More patience, kindness and open mindedness.

Which activities make you lose track of time?

Watching my young daughter learn new skills every day – she is a constant source of entertainment and wonder.
